England Touch teams with Independent Schools Association for May festival

England Touch has teamed up with the Independent Schools Association to offer its 608 member schools the opportunity to take part in a Touch festival at Maidenhead RFC in May.

The festival, which will run between 10:30am and 3:00pm on Friday, May 12th, 2023, will be for Mixed teams (3 boys and 3 girls on the field at any one time) in the Under-11, Under-13 and Under-15 age categories. Match day squads can be up to 14 players with rolling subs.

Rules will be England Touch’s Schools Touch Festival Rules, which can be found by CLICKING HERE.

Normal school playing kit can be worn, with boots with moulded studs, as per the international standard set by the Federation of International Touch.

Touch is the most inclusive code of rugby, with boys and girls playing as equals, and while the festival has age categories multiple year groups can play in the same team alongside each other.

England Touch is the only organisation which runs the teams which enter international competitions at age group level, such as the European Junior Touch Championships and Atlantic Youth Touch Cup. England is the number one nation in Europe, having won three Gold medals and a Silver medal at the most recent European Junior Touch Championships, which were played in France last August.

Talent coaches will be attending the festival with a view to inviting players with potential to attend regional training camps, which is the next step in the pathway towards possibly pulling on the England national shirt.

Booking information can be seen by CLICKING HERE and any specific questions can be sent to Sammie Phillips, England Touch General Manager, via sammie.phillips@englandtouch.org.uk
