England’s referees represent throughout the summer
England’s #TeamRef shone throughout the summer’s international events in Limerick, Stirling and Calvisano.
In all 44 referees officiated across the Atlantic Youth Touch Cup, European Seniors Touch Cup and European Opens Touch Cup.
Jack Harris (B18, MO), Julian Edwards (W20, WO), Layo Aromire (X20, W27) and Mike Davis (X20, W27) were all awarded two finals during the three events, with a further 15 individuals given the responsibility of a Gold Medal match.
Congratulations, too, to Ash Grimsey, Jonny Richards and Owen Chirwa, who were all upgraded to Level 3.
In addition, Ian Syder, Bronwyn Wake, Dan Harrison, Stephen Dubreil, Uma Ramaswami and Nicolas Van De Rijt were on referee coaching panels, with Bronwyn receiving an upgrade to become a Level 3 Referee Coach.
“In addition to the successful performances by England teams at the summer's international championships, nearly 50 England-affiliated referees and referee coaches also took part in one or more events,” says Mike Davis from the Referee Leadership Team. “Some split their time between playing, coaching and refereeing, others concentrated just on officiating, but all made a huge contribution towards making each of the three tournaments the successes that they were.
“On top of this, many achieved recognition during the tournaments, either by receiving an upgrade to a higher level or by being appointed to finals. Congratulations and thank you to all our international referees!”
