Six teams in action at European Opens Touch Cup

England Touch is well represented in Calvisano this weekend in the inaugural European Opens Touch Cup.

England is utilising the opportunity to send developmental teams to the full, with three Men’s Open and three Women’s Open sides.

There will no doubt be plenty of competition when the Mavericks, Phoenix and Storm come up against each other in the round-robin matches.

Both the Men and Women will come up against France, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands and Scotland during the round-robin matches, with three games each day across Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

In a first for the European calendar, action will get underway under lights on the Thursday evening with a single mixed open match between hosts Italy and neighbours France. 

The rest of the 22 competing teams will start their action on the Friday morning from 8am, with fixtures starting earlier to accommodate a likely two-hour 'heat break' in the middle of the day.

With no England in the mixed open, Belgium, Lebanon, the Middle East and Switzerland will join Italy and France to compete for the inaugural title.
