2022 Development Men’s and Women’s NTS R1 preview

The 2022 Development Men’s and Women’s National Touch Series heads to Oxford for its opening round this Sunday.

There are a number of significant developments for the Development Men’s and Women’s NTS this year, with England Touch mirroring last year’s Mixed NTS by using the same venue for both the Elite and Development Men’s and Women’s NTS across the weekend, and all three tournaments being live streamed for the first time.

This Sunday’s tournament in Oxford will be followed by a Saturday in Burton on May 14th and then returning to Oxford for Sunday, May 29th.

The 2022 Development Men’s and Women’s NTS starts with 16 Men’s and 10 Women’s teams.

The Men are divided into four pools of four teams, which will then break into knockout matches in the Cup and Plate in the afternoon.

Meanwhile the Women are in two pools of five, with Cup and Plate knockouts in the afternoon.

2021’s Men’s tournament was a close contest, while the Women from Oxford and Thames Valley Vikings pushed each other all the way.

This year’s Round 1 features some of the most established clubs across the country, with teams travelling from as far afield as Wigan, Norwich and Exeter to the heart of England to compete.

Many clubs are sending teams in both the Men’s and Women’s competitions, including Oxford, Wigan Warriors, London Vipers, Cheltenham, Chester, London Eagles, Revolution, Bristol Jets and Nottingham.

Tap off for game one is at 10am, with the Women’s Cup final bringing the day to a close, tapping off at 5:05pm.
