London '10s and Touch' festival

London '10s and Touch' festival

The 2nd Annual London 10s and Touch Festival was held at Grasshoppers RFC in conjunction with the Church Charity Sports Day on Saturday 26th May.Due to clashing with a number of other events this year, 4 mens open teams and 8 mixed social teams took part, however the event was an unmitigated success judging by how much all the teams enjoyed themselves.

There was some great touch played throughout the day with the Mens Open division being closely contested by Caledonian Dockers, Warriors and London Rioters, all teams will significant international representation.

Ultimately it was Warriors who triumphed over London Rioters in a drop off, after playing to a 6-all draw at full time.

The Mixed Social division was a much more casual affair but there were still teams that played some excellent touch throughout the day. Special mention should be made of the Wisborough Wizards and Perfect Strangers teams who played really well in very warm conditions.

The semi-finals were played between Thames Valley Viking and the West Wildcats, with the Wildcats squeaking the win in another drop off.

In the other semi-final London Kites beat Magic Legends, who had basically brought along their entire entourage of '12,000' travelling supporters but still could just not get to the final!

In the final it was Kites who proved too strong for the Wildcats and ended up winning the Mixed Social Division.

It was a fantastic day which ended up in the beer and cider tent with the normal shenanigans and live music that accompany such great events.A big thank you to the In 2 Touch referees and staff for making this event such a huge success again.
